Mindfulness and MBCT

Mindfulness is a particular way of paying attention to the present moment. When we are tuned in to the present moment, we are less likely to get caught up in unhelpful patterns of thinking. Most of us are more used to its opposite: mindlessness - times when we are not conscious of what is going on, when we are most liable to make mistakes.

Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, MBCT, is a modified form of cognitive therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices, which include present moment awarenessmeditation, and breathing exercises. This therapy was initially formulated to address depression but it is now widely used to address various psychological concerns. Using these tools, you will learn to be in the here and now as well as break away from negative thought patterns that can cause a decline into a mood-disordered state.
